Restaurants reopen in Mumbai with safety measures in place and 50 percent occupancy permitted

The hospitality industry took a massive hit when the coronavirus pandemic brought things to a grinding halt. Overnight, restaurants, hotels had to shut and once the lockdown was implemented, that shutdown extended for 6 months. It's only now in Unlock 5 that the Maharashtra government has allowed restaurants to re-open with only 50 percent occupancy permitted. Safety protocols have to be followed. Sanitisers, hygiene standards are all being put in place and monitored. It is going to be tough days ahead for the restaurant business that is hoping people are not completely spooked out by the virus that they stop eating out. On October 5, restaurants reopened for the first time in 6 months and from all early accounts, restaurateurs say they feel optimistic with what they have seen on Day 1.
